Mak Dö & Mend

Inspired by traditional mending techniques and my work with the Scottish Green Party, Mak Dö & Mend explores sustainability through repair rather than replacement. This project focuses on the art of mending with nets, drawing from the coastal heritage of Scalloway. Using photographs of my cousin repairing a fishing net, I translated these moments into a creative response—honoring the resilience of repair and the ethos of reusing materials. Through this work, I encourage a shift in mindset: embracing the beauty of the mended rather than discarding the worn.
